Willoughby Council is only on track to deliver 33% of its housing target, and Naremburn itself is losing young people at a rapid clip. Blocking new housing there will only accelerate this trend. YIMBY WIN- TIME TO CELEBRATE On Tuesday night, Inner West Council approved their Fairer Future Plan, enabling more than 30,000 desperately-needed homes in the places that people want to live. YIMBYs from across Sydney fought hard for this plan- turning up to speak at forums and council meetings, signing petitions, talking to their friends and keeping the pressure on.  In the end it passed by just one vote. It's no exaggeration to say that the efforts of Sydney YIMBY members made this happen. It's a huge win. NIMBYs are holding a public meeting to protest Council’s plan to permit 30,000 new homes. We’d like you to come along to highlight the people left out of this discussion: renters and anyone who can’t afford a $2m house. The organisers of this event all bought decades ago, so get to prioritise their fear of tall buildings over affordability. If you live in the west and haven't been able to make it to an event before, we'd particularly love to hear from you! Where: Commercial Hotel, Parramatta When: Wednesday, 28 May, from 6pm Note: due to the venue, this is an 18+ event. 

This will be the biggest council meeting in a couple of years: they're presenting their plans to upzone Marrickville, Dulwich Hill and Ashfield to go on exhibition and we need to have as many people as possible to show there's public support for more homes in the inner west. The last two times this rezoning has been pushed the NIMBYs have shown up in force and won - we need to turn the tide and show there's broad public support.
