It will also be an opportunity to ask questions of the Committee. Note you'll need to be a member to sign up, you can become one here: https://membership.sydney.yimby.au/member/memberships

Urbanism Talks: Gentle Density
The Lady Hampshire
18:30 – 21:00
Detached houses make up more than 80% of residential land in middle ring suburbs; this is completely unsustainable. Architects Angelo Korsanos and Peter McGregor will share their strategies for inserting new multi-dwelling housing along select streets, providing micro-transformations within suburbs. Through this we can leverage existing amenity to create places of urbanity while retaining the essence of suburban character. To celebrate the launch of our Urbanism Talks series we'll also be selling our new T-shirts. Order below to avoid disappointment! (N.B. we recommend sizing up by one size)

Inner West Council Meeting - Macarthur Pde Heritage Listings
Inner West Council – Ashfield Service Centre
18:30 – 20:00
The Inner West is proposing to heritage list four houses on Macarthur Pde, Dulwich Hill that cover 4000sqm. During the consultation period 63% of the community said no to this listing, but council staff want to proceed with it anyway. Under the government's new upzoning policy these could instead be converted into 20 or more townhouses, because they are on R2 land near the station. We need to have as many people at the council meeting as possible to show them that the community cares more about housing affordability than preserving $3m bungalows. Please do not register to speak directly with council yet, as we want to give opportunity for residents of those houses to do so first.

Council is consulting on a plan to rezone a few streets near the Inner West Light Rail for low-rise apartments. This has been met with some pretty intense and insensible local NIMBY opposition. We’ll be going along to show our support for sensible upzoning near high-quality amenities.
